    What if Chrysler purchased Packard?

    Favorite Answer:

When Packard went under Chrysler had three lines. Dodge, Plymouth and Chrysler.. Chrysler was the luxury division of the company. Dodge was the mid-range product and Plymouth was the cheap line.

Chrysler products were designed so that the a top hat could be worn by a man while riding in  one. This single trait no doubt hindered the design of the product line.

After the war Packard acquired Studebaker. Which was to be the lower priced car for Packard. When Packard went under Chrysler was already having troubles. They did not need another luxury level line of cars. It would have expanded the car line to five in number.

What Chrysler did that hurt them so much was hiring Lee Iaocca. While he was good, he made a few mistakes. One was the "K" car. A good concept, but poorly executed. It had dependability issues and signaled the beginning of the end. A series of vehicles followed. All had a similar problem- good idea but poor engineering. The poor engineering was in part due to Lee cutting back on the budget for engineering. Also in part due to the poor choice of Mitsubishi as a partner who provided many of the power trains.

As for Packard, the choice to rebadge Studebakers as Packard was the mistake. Studebakers had a lot of design innovations that were ahead of their time. But cost savings were done in the wrong places. The results were similar to those seen by GM when they rebadged Chevrolets as Oldsmobile's, Buicks and Pontiac cars. Interchange between product lines can only go so far before the public see's through it.

    Ford 4.6 Project car ?

So i’m working on a 74 Ranchero with my dad and our original plan was to use the motor we pulled from a 93 lincoln mark viii for $300 total with engine and trans and use that. After further research, I found that most the community recommends to use the aviator engine for the C heads and modern ignition. plan was to swap heads but it’s probably cheaper and easier with just get an aviator motor for $150 from the junkyard. We do have a 4r70 still from the 93 but i’m not sure if that’ll work with the aviator. we are using a standalone but i really don’t know much about compatibility with engine computers. obviously a 10 year difference. should we just keep the engine we have or get the newer, more powerful one? cost really isn’t too much of an issue since we can pick up a motor for $150 from the junkyard.

What type of blindspot mirror should I use for a Mazda 3 touring 2015?

I've seen rectangular and circular blindspot mirrors for Mazda 3 touring. Also, where is the best placement for them (outer top corner/outer bottom corner etc.)? I need advice as I don't know much about car things. Thanks in advance! :)

There are no subcompact cars in the US starting 2020. Toyota Yaris, Honda Fit, Fiat 500, and even Smart Car discontinued in the US. Do you know why? Any alternatives left for small parallel parking spaces?
