Where can you get your home theatre system installed for FREE!?!!?

I just purchased a full home theatre system, it's great, there's dvd players, speakers, tv screens, home theatre units etc. It cost so much, that I now have no money left for the installation, and I think it's beyond the capabilities of people to put this in themself. I don't actually think there's anyone who fully understands this stuff, myself included. So who can put it in for free?

What do I need for whole home audio?

Just bought a new house. There are 12 ceiling speakers throughout the home and all the speaker cables are routed to a single spot downstairs. I just want to use it for listening to music, preferably controlled by an app. Can anybody suggest what kind of device I need to connect these 12 speaker wires to that would allow me to listen to music, preferably from my phone? And is it possible to group which speakers I want to listen to?

Recently purchased a Sherwood s-7025 receiver and one of my speakers sounds muffled.?

I have the receiver hooked up to my Marantz 6100 turntable and Klipsch r-51 bookshelf speakers. I have brand new 14gauge speaker wire and banana plugs. Whenever I put a record on, one of the speakers sounds a bit muffled, quieter than the other speaker, and also cracks more. I have switched the cables on everything and have verified that the speakers aren't the issue. I really notice the difference when I switch the balance on the receiver to the left or the right speaker. it's always whichever speaker is on the right connection. The speakers also crack whenever I play with the balance knob. I'm guessing there is a loose connection somewhere. Any possible advice, I'm a novice at audio equipment.

Why haven't Blu-ray discs made DVDs obsolete?

Blu-ray players have been around for 15 years or so. At my local library, all TV shows are available as DVDs, none are available in Blu-Ray.

what is the advantage to having a DVD player that has an "HDMI" outlet on the back vs. the audio, video, etc plugs on the back?

    Favorite Answer:

For a DVD player, it's more convenience to suit the connections teh TV has, and may not make much difference as DVDs are not high definition to start with.

The DVD video format was created for "standard definition" 525 or 625 line analog TV systems, pre HD.

HDMI will theoretically still give fractionally better quality with DVDs, as the whole system is then digital all the way from the disc to the screen, rather than being converted to analog and back again.

HDMI is much better with material that starts out in high definition, such as BluRay; with good source material and a good HD TV, you would see a significant difference in image sharpness and detail with HDMI compared to analog AV.

does HDMI really produce a better picture & sound than AV cables?  if so, why? i have watched both ways & cannot really see any difference?

    Favorite Answer:

DVD's do not do 1080 but the player might.

1080i just means that for the i or interlace, they paint half the screen, then the other half... if the TV is analog. Digital sets undo the interlacing and show 30 full pictures per second.  1080i @ 60 fps is identical in output to 1080p @ 30.

Digital does do a better job than analog but for normal people, they'd have trouble telling the difference if the signal is clean.  A little bit of training will let you spot it but don't bother if you are happy with what you have.

RCA Cabling is analog, not digital. Quality lower but you won't see difference without training.  Upscaling will happen somewhere when the source material (those DVD's for example) is lower resolution than your TV.  You just need to choose if you want to bother changing it.  If the TV is 1920p, for example, to show any content that is not at that resolution, it MUST be upscaled.  This can happen at the player, the TV, or any equipment in the middle.  You can pick which is better at doing that.  Since you can't see the difference between analog and digital, don't bother with that setting.Current image level is called (incorrectly) 4K.  It is UHD or Ultra High Definition.  Resolution is 3840 by 1920 pixels.  The BIGGIE, more important than the resolution, is the color gamut.  Your DVD uses 8 bits per color or 256 shades of red, green, and blue.  UHD can do 10 or 12 bits depending on the set.  That is 1024 shades or 4096 shades.  The human eye can pick out about 4000 shades of red in studies.  This is by far, more important than the resolution.

As for when, years ago. (not gonna look it up)

So, if you need a new TV, look for UHD and check black levels.  Current sets, including yours, try to block 100% of the light for black and they can't do that.  But, you can use that to pick ones with good pictures for low money.

Can somebody link a good HDMI sound extractor?

    Favorite Answer:

"Surround sound" is digitally encoded in any one of several formats, depending on the source - AC3, DTS or various HD versions now that have higher bit rates and qualities.

It's very different to basic stereo over digital / optical links, which has a fixed format and can be converted to analog easily.

The only guaranteed way to convert HDMI digital audio to discrete 5.1 analog is by using a home theatre amp that has HDMI inputs and a multi-format surround decoder, or a stand-alone surround decoder.

Those exist but they are not common and you may well be able to get a secondhand home theatre amp somewhat cheaper..

Example linked below, suitable for up to 1080p video connections:

How to connect a soundbar to tv.?

    Favorite Answer:

    It *should* work.

With no ARC the TV will not be able to control the volume level of the soundbar so you’ll have to use the remote control for the soundbar instead.

Back to the *should*...   HDMI was never designed to carry audio at all. The technical standard is for video only and the original design anticipated use of separate audio connections. But almost all HDMI devices made over the last decade have incorporated an audio carrying capability as well.

Most modern soundbars have multiple means of connection. Optical (TOSLINK), headphone socket, audio phono plugs and Bluetooth are the main suite of connections on all but budget soundbars.

Is it ok to get a subwoofer in an apartment or will it disturb neighbors?

I have a nice speaker system for music and movies in my apartment. But I never bought a subwoofer due to the fear or disturbing neighbors. Our building is concrete so there’s a chance the vibration from a subwoofer could potentially disturb neighbors. But I could be wrong.

Do you think it would be ok to get a subwoofer for an apartment ? Or do you think it would cause a disturbance?
