When I was 10, I met an 8 year old boy. We were together every day for 2 years straight. He was the best friend, we never fought and we could talk for hours. I only have fond memories with him. Then he had to move like 1,000 miles away. This was in 2004 and we were only 10 and 12 years old, we ended up losing contact after a year. Well over the years I checked for him on social media. He apparently never made any. I m now 27. It has been 15 years since I ve seen my childhood best friend. My sister sent me a photo of him and it got me wondering how he was doing so I made a Facebook and found him and it was wonderful, we reminisced and confessed our massive childhood crushes we had on each other and he even face timed me for a half hour and I could see the obvious excitement on his face. It felt so great to know that after all these years he missed me just as much. Catching up was great but suddenly it turned sour..he said he wanted to see me and keep in touch but now he is slowly contacting me less and less..like leaving me on read and now he is always active and just not opening my messages at all. My gut tells me it is his fiance..what should I do ? Should I call him out on it ? It hasn t even been a week. I just expected a little more given his first reaction and the fact that it has been 15 years. I m so confused and hurt by this. After all this time apart I never once made a friend that didn t let me down..and now I m feeling let down by the one I never expected it from.
