  • Moving overseas, but my cat..?

I'll be moving overseas soon for a few years and I wanted to bring my cat but it seems absurdly expensive and/or troublesome and uncertain.

Are there any good, inexpensive ways to bring him with me?

  • Vertical Venetian blinds, with art?

I live in a crappy little apartment, with those large vertical blinds for the sliding glass door. It seems to me that somewhere, someone has to sell those blinds with some sort of artwork or mural on one side of it to spruce up the large chunk of white nothing taking up most of the wall. However, I looked and could not find any on google, or amazon, has anyone seen something like that, got a link?

  • Clover in my container garden!?

So I'm a semi-new container gardener and I have a problem with clover trying to overrun my plants! I try to pluck it my hand but can never seem to get enough of the roots to keep it from popping back up.

Is there a better way to get rid of it without harming my plants? Most of what I could find in online searches included chemicals but I'm worried about using harsh chemicals in my containers... am i worried for nothing? Help?

  • Sex offender roommate?

So my roommate got picked up by the cops today for some kind of parole violation. I didn't even know he'd been arrested (all my many searches before he moved in had turned up nothing) Well now I did more searching and paid more money to find records, finally found that he'd been arrested many times for failure to register as a sex offender.

I couldn't find out what the original arrest was for though and I wouldn't trust him now to tell me the truth since hes been living here for 6 months with not a word of it to me. Since hes not registered how can i find out what it was for? I think I should know if I'm living with the guy.

    Wintering container gardening?

I'm a new container gardener at an apartment. I know I have to protect the dormant plants during the winter but I'm not sure how since I don't have the room to bring them indoors. I was thinking to huddle them near one wall of the outside patio that is constantly rather warm to try and protect them from the cold, but would that work?

  • Certain mint type for lawns?

I've heard about people growing mint instead of grass in lawns and I LOVE that idea, I was wondering if there was a certain type (or 'breed') that would work better than another?

  • Fragrant indoor flower or plant?

I'm a new container gardener and thought I'd start more indoor plants instead of the deck plants I've been collecting thusfar.

What are some fragrant (floral preferred) indoor flowers or plants that you like and would work for a beginner? :)

  • Will silver cleaner hurt freshwater pearls?

So I have a silver and freshwater pearl necklace that I've had forever and absolutely love. However the silver has gotten rather dull over the years. I am planning to get silver cleaner to clean it up but I'm worried about the pearls.

Would that hurt the pearls? Is there a specific way to do it that wont? Is there a specific cleaner to do the job?

  • Nightmares about Pregnancy?

So I'm 30 and in a long term committed relationship, my boyfriend and I agree we don't want kids, I never have even a little. I've never been pregnant or even had a scare. The idea terrifies me.

For the past few years, every couple months I've have terrifying, anxiety-packed dreams where I find myself very pregnant, usually around 8 months along. (And I've had them more in the past 2-3 weeks) The dreams are very negative and nightmare, nothing bad happens but its a constant "How did I let this happen, what am I going to do!?" Its downright terrifying. The most recent one I was going into early labor and nowhere near a hospital or anything and it was SO frightening.

Do these kind of dreams have any 'meaning' or is it just something I'm simply scared of and dreaming about?

  • How can I find out what I used to download a game?

Okay so weird situation, I downloaded Sims Medieval, legitimately, awhile back. Recently I've been wanting to put it on my boyfriends laptop too so I can take it to work, but I can't figure out where I downloaded it from. (origin...steam...Sims website...etc)

Is there any way to be able to tell?

  • Is it bad for a woman's feet for her to wear mens shoes?

So I'm looking for women's work shoes or boots. I know for a fact that women's feet are rather different than men's in shape and structure, but would it be bad for my feet if i were to wear men's work shoes? I've been having issues finding sturdy, safe work shoes designed for women. (weather resistant, slip and oil resistant safety shoes)

I know the sizes and often styles are different, obviously.

I'm just wondering about the actual foot-health implications.

  • Ex-roommate bailed on a month-to-month?

Ok, so we had one of those asshat roommate situations.

Long story short, he moved out giving us 2 days notice, claimed he would pay the utility bill be was responsible for, and didn't, only switched it to my name. Won't talk to my boyfriend or I (who are still living here) and we have no way to get him off the lease.

Is there any way we can get him off the lease, and get him to pay for the bills and remaining rent he was responsible for?

Or do we have to try and get him to sign the remove roommate thing, even after he has moved out of the city (2 hours away) Or take him to small claims? I'd like an easier, less aggressive route than that if possible.

  • Friend in a bad relationship?

I'm pretty sure I can't really do anything about it, but I'd like some second opinions.

One of my closest friends I've known since freshman year in high school (we're both recently 30 now) has been in an emotionally and psychologically abusive relationship on-again off-again for over 2 years now. He's awful and breaks up with her over ANY disagreement, and after a week or a month, he'll come crawling back and she always caves in. He has bullied her into stopping talking to most of her friends, because of him she has tried to kill herself 3 times, and he has told her that she SHOULD kill herself.

I've tried to logic her into cutting ties with him, I've tried being just her stalwart friend, shoulder to cry on and sympathetic ear. She knows exactly how I feel about him and still 'hopes him and I can be friends.'

Is there anything I can do? According to her he has never hit her, but I'm afraid its only a matter of time. Her family hardly has anything to do with her anymore, and she hardly has any friends other than me.

    Please, any tips?

  • Feral cat spay and neuter in Oregon?

Around my apartment there is a big feral cat problem, the people downstairs feed them so they keep on coming back and breeding.

I've tried to look into feral cat spaying and neutering but they all require you to pay for traps and trap them yourself, I know some states do this as a free service, does anyone know if Oregon has one of those that I just haven't found?

  • Does appraising jewelry help sell it?

So I want to sell some good quality jewelry of mine but everyplace quotes me barely 1/10 what its worth, and about 1/4 what I hope to get back from it.

I was wondering if anyone knew if getting it appraised would increase my chances of getting a better sell price on it?

Its a platinum women's wedding set if that matters.

  • Why do so many people think marriage is exclusively religious?

So I hear it all the time that marriage is a religious bonding and so forth, however I know that marriage pre-dates most religions and wasn't even connected to religion until rather long after.

So, my question is, why are so many people so attached to the idea that it is ONLY a religious ceremony?

And please, no anger or preaching or trolls. Its pointless and won't change my view based on facts, just a simple question.
