  • Teachers: Am I making the right choice or making a mistake?

I just got accepted into a Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary Science (Biology) at the local university. I am making a career change, I work in a hospital now.

Is this a good choice? A mistake? Are science teachers still in demand, or will they be in demand when the economy picks up? Are they in demand else where in the world?

I already have a temporary certificate to teach high school Biology (Florida), but have not applied for a job yet, just because I've never taught before and I'm a little apprehensive.

    Thank you for your answers!

  • What is the difference between micelles and phospholipid bilayers? Similarities?

Am I even asking this question correctly? I know that a phospholipid bilayer is found in the plasma membrane and is composed of lipids with hydrophobic and hydrophilic ends. But what is a micelle as it relates to phospholipids? Thanks

Math question, principal amount borrowed ... does anybody know how to do this problem?

James wants to take out a loan. Suppose he can afford to make monthly payments of 500 dollars and the bank charges interest at an annual rate of 10 percent, compounded monthly.

What is the maximum amount that James could afford to borrow if the loan is to be paid off eventually?

(Give your answer, in dollars, correct to the nearest dollar.)

    I'm stuck ...

    Thank you very much ..

  • Why are people so fascinated when you get a haircut?

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but why when I get a haircut, like 5-10 people a day comment that "you got a haircut!"? I cut my hair once every 1.5 months - 2 months, nothing special, just clean up (i'm 28 male). I'm nobody special, average looking guy. When I get a haircut, without fail, when I go to work, I constantly get a comment.

I've been at the same job for 4 years, and the majority of people I see have been there just as long. So it's nothing new.

Yet, everyday, I get the same annoying, irritating, and useless comment. What's the fascination?

I have heard that women do not like to be constantly complimented about their shoes, for example. Same thing?

  • how difficult would it be to take 5 classes ...?

How difficult do you think it would be to take this course load in one semester, along with 36 hrs/week work?

3 days a wk, 12 hrs a day is my work schedule

    Intro to Education - online

    Teaching Diverse Populations - online

    Fundamentals of Biology I w/lab

    Fundamentals of Biology II w/lb

General Chemistry with Qualitative Analysis I w/lab

Constructive criticism and opinions please. If I don't do these classes now, I will have to wait almost a year to get into the program I'm applying for.

    Thanks.

In case anybody was wondering, for some reason, the system at my college is allowing me to register for Bio II and I haven't completed Bio I. I do have a Bachelor of Science degree, so I don't think I will have a problem understanding the material.

  • Teachers: MAT or BSEd?

Teachers, is an MAT degree respected?? In your workplace, in a public school, how many of your colleagues are MAT's, how many BSEd?

  • TEACHERS: Question about degrees...?

I live in the United States currently and am pursuing a career change to teaching. I really want to teach in Australia, and am trying to figure out the best way to transition into teaching. But, I need to obtain teaching credentials that are recognized in Australia (any state)

Right now, I have a Bachelor of Science (non-education), and am thinking about two programs:

Bachelor of Science in Education (BSEd)

Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)

The BSEd will take me 3 years. The MAT, because I already hold a baccaleurate degree, will take 1.5 years.

I know the BSEd degree is recognized in Australia, but what about the MAT degree? Is it respected over there? Is an MAT degree from the United States recognized, or does it have to be from Australia?

For those of you who teach in a public school, how many of your colleagues have BSEd, how many MAT's?

Thank you very much for your answers!

  • Teachers: MAT or BEd?

I have a BS degree in a non-education field, and I want to become a teacher. Should I pursue a Bachelor's in Education, or should I pursue a MAT degree? How respected is a MAT degree? How respected is a MAT degree overseas, like Canada or Australia?

Is the MAT a universally accepted teaching degree? Would I be better off just getting a BEd? Or would an MAT be more respected than a BEd?

    Thanks!!!!

  • TEACHERS: How strong is the MAT degree?

So basically what I'm asking, is an MAT degree an ACTUAL teaching degree? Or is it a knock off degree? I am not trying to insult anybody, especially teachers with MAT degrees, but I just am ignorant about the subject. Thanks!

  • math question: Calculus I and II?

If I completed Calculus I 8 years ago, would I have a difficult/impossible time completing Calculus II right now? I took Calculus II actually 8 years ago but never finished the final. So I went through the class, but never got credit for Calculus II.

I can remember somewhat the concept of a limit and derivative, and all I remember from Calculus II is that it incorporated a lot of Trig in the curriculum. Thanks.

  • TEACHERS: What can I teach with this Bachelor's degree?

I have a Bachelor of Science in Cardiopulmonary Science. I want a career change. I've been working in a pediatric hospital as a Respiratory Therapist for 4 years. What will they let me teach with this degree? How do I become a teacher?

I've been looking into it and I can't find a straight answer. Will they train me to become a certified teacher during the first year of teaching? Or will I have to take additional classes before I can even apply?

Also, will the 4 years at a pediatric hospital impress them if I want to teach middle school or high school? I figured its experience with children, so they might like that. I live in Florida.

    Thanks!!

  • Lien on motorcycle ..?

I purchased a motorcycle at a dealer and was financed by HSBC Yamaha with a Yamaha credit card. I called customer service and they said it is an unsecured line of credit, however, they have legal right to the motorcycle in case I don't pay. I checked online, and it says that there is a lien on my motorcycle by HSBC. My question is, do they have the right to place a lien on it if it is unsecured? I still owe on the vehicle and have no intention on defaulting, but if I am legally entitled to the title, I would like to have it. Thanks.
