  • Denied Unemployment Due To Being A Mother?

I was with a company for almost three years and never had a problem with production nor attendance. My children's father would pick the kids up in the morning and take them to school, which gave me ample time to get to work. Recently he wanted me to remove him from child support and when I refused he decided to stop taking the kids to school in the morning, which would not give me enough time to get them to school and get to work on time. I spoke to my boss and advised him on what was going on and to see if I could come in an half of a hour late and not take a lunch. He would not allow that and wrote me up for tardiness, so I tried to get to work as quick as I could but sometimes was I was about 5 minutes or less late for work. I was already paying after school daycare which the childsupport did not cover completely and I could not afford before care. My boss then fired me because of my tardiness. I filed for unemployment and the employer did not contest but the agency said that I was denied because of gross misconduct. I put in an appeal, but does anyone know if this is just a waste of my time or is it possible that the decision would be reversed?
