  • What is the statute of limitations on hate crimes/police negligence?

My friend was brutally beaten and stabbed 10 years ago by seven boys because he was black. He was 18 and they went to high school with him. He never understood why there were no charges brought against the boys who he pointed out by name and who's car he described in detail. To this day he is blind in one eye, has a badly broken nose, and scars all over his body from the stab wounds, not to mention the memory of hearing the boys yelling, "kill the N---!" as he was stabbed.

He is still traumatized by the incident, so recently he got copies of all the police documents and has been talking to several people involved to try and figure out why he never got any justice, and it is pretty much blatantly obvious that the police were negligent in not prosecuting the boys, and most likely that they were purposefully negligent.

Is there anything that can be done now since it was so long ago?

  • Best LITERAL translation of the bible?

So I've been studying the history and true meaning of Hebrew scriptures and was wondering if there is any translation of the bible that is a very literal translation. Sorry but I just don't trust King James, I've found way to many blatant misinterpretations to trust anything I read from that text. Anyone have a truly ACCURATE English translation?

  • Can I get advantage without seeing a vet?

I want to get advantage flea treatment but can't afford to go to the vet! My uncle brought is dog to visit last week and soon after I noticed my kitties were scratching. I saw a flea on one so I gave them both a flea bath, but the way my senior citizen (20yo) reacted to it I'm literally afraid to try it again. I really thought she might die as I was washing her. I managed to get rid of most of them, but they aren't totally gone cause they're both still itching and senior is getting scabs on her neck. I feel like the flea dip may not be effective because they just end up hiding by the eyes and private areas, how closely can I get to these areas without hurting them?

I would like to know how I can get advantage but any other advice would be greatly appreciated!!

  • Can I save my poor Goldfish?

Ok, so about 10 month ago I got "custody" of my parents fish tank since they moved out of country. All moms had was a godlfish and a red molly(great combo I know). So anyway, after a few failed attempts I've had a healthy aquarium for about 8 months. I have live plants and no filter, and the heater stays at 75 degrees. My total 8 month success rate(aka they've all been there for 8 months w/o dying) includes 3 tetras, 2 mollies(I got my mom's a partner), an algae eater, the original goldfish, and my 2 dwarf frogs that are now about 2 years old and have done great in the tank. I check the levels every three days and they have never gotten to the point where I had to take action......mostly I was worried about the goldfish polluting the tank. Everyone told me to get rid of the goldfish but I just couldn't bring myself to do it (For some reason I just can't bring myself to flush him, ....I just can't take the guilt, he's my little homie!).....anyways, lately my goldfish has formed a gigantic black spot right between the eyes plus several small ones on his sides. He also swims in a spiraling motion, all the way upside down sometimes.....is there any hope for my little guy?? What should I do? I've become quite attached....

Oh yeah, It's a 20 gallon tank if that matters.

  • Does he need to try for modification? They gave him options, which is best?

My husband has always been current on child support. Last week he received a notice from DSHS that he owed them 8,000 dollars in back support. With a little research he found out that his ex had been accepting assistance for the past 10 years, and once her income got high enough for them to discontinue cash payments HE now somehow owes them 8000?

These are the "options" they gave us.............which one is the best avenue?

1: File an Action in the state or tribal court that entered your support order.

    2. Ask DCS for a Conference Board.

On top of that they raised his current payment to 400 a month, a full 100 dollars over the amount I calculated using the CS calculator with the exact same info they had!! Yeah, thank you state of Washington for successfully evicting me from my home for absolutely no reason!!..........

If it isn't obvious yet, the order is in Washington....please anyone that could help I would greatly appreciate it!!Thanks!

  • Have I stopped ovulating?

A few months ago I was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst. It's painful, but doesn't really bother me overall.......my problem is that my periods have gotten much shorter in the past year. They've gone from lasting 4 days to 2 1/2 days. I have heard that people with PCOS have irregular periods......mine are very regular with little pain, I've never skipped a period, they've just been shorter.....is this a sign that I'm not ovulating?

  • Cold Sore Question, are these symptoms normal?

First off sorry about the length, I tried to explain this as shortly as possible! I suspect I am getting cold sores, but my sypmtoms don't seem to match other people's I know, I would like to know if my symptoms are normal or whether this could be something else. I'm sure Ive probably had HSV1 for quite some time since my husband of 7 years has always gotten them. However, I've never had any in my life until about 4 months ago when I got (what I think is) a cold sore on my lip, now I feel it happening again.

They start off feeling like a huge painful ball in my lip, with pain going through my chin and down into my neck even. At this point there are no outside symptoms, the pain comes from deep inside my lip. Soon after both my lips get very dry all over, but their is no sore. I never notice any kind of puss like bumps, or an oosing sore or even an open sore at all. Both my lips just feel dry. The swollen ball in my lip feels like it's about the size of a Lincoln town car, yet when I look in the mirror it doesn't even look swollen!

Then about 2 days later out of the blue I get a small scab on my lip, not on the outside edges but on the inside where my lip meets the inside of my mouth. The lump goes away, but the scab will crack open and bleed badly and be very annoying for about 2 days, then go away as quickly as it came. Everyone I've shown is clueless as to what it is.

I also did get very sick with a 103 temp about six months ago. It seemed like a typical flu, sore throat, cough, the only strange thing was my gums got very sore and enflamed and the inside of my cheeks and bottom lip got several strange painful lumps. I went to the doctor over it, who told me he thought the sores in my mouth were no big deal just from whatever virus I had caught, and were not cold sores. The sores since feel quite similar to what happened when I was sick, only not as bad.

Does anyone else get cold sores similar to this? Could my body just react differently to the virus?

  • I want to try Salvia, what should I expect?

I really don't know much about it, except a few of my friends have talked about having mind blowing religious experiences using it. I want to try, but I know I am prone to panic attacks and hopefully if I know exactly what to expect this won't happen.

Are people with anxiety prone to bad trips?

Can you describe how you felt/what you saw/an experience you've had?

Is the experience similar to the effects of any other drugs? How?

What happens physically (heart racing? Dizziness? Ect?)

How exactly does the drug interact in your brain to cause the effects?

    Any drug interactions?/Overdose?/Death?

What would be specific things I can do before hand to encourage a good experience?

I know, lots of questions, I don't expect people to answer all of it.....just tell me what you know!!

  • African Americans...can you describe the way you felt when it was announced that Obama won?

I was part of the 80's generation where in school we were always taught that anyone could be president. As a little white girl in Kindergarten, I had my doubts. Throughout my school years the fact that we've never had a black president was regularly brought up. I remember asking my dad if he thought we would ever have a black president and he answered honestly..."Probably not in your lifetime." When his win was announced I cried and cried knowing the significance of this moment. As a black person in America, can you describe how you felt when it was announced he had won?

  • Should we consider election day a national holiday and allow people the day off to vote?

With typical problems such as long lines, not enough booths, or wrong registration tapes being delivered to voting paces.......should it be mandatory that people are able to miss work in order to vote? It's already law that someone can't be fired is they miss work for a sick child, so why not make it law that someone can lawfully miss work to vote?

  • Oregon Voters? What are the polls for measure 61?

So I don't want to vote for either 61 or 58, I don't think mandatory sentences and more jail time fixes the underlying problem, but anyway that's beside the point. I want to vote no for both of them, however, if it looks as if 61 is going to pass then I will vote yes for 58......does anyone know any stats on these measures? where I could find them?

  • Is there a song that makes you cry every time you hear it?

My dad used to sing the song "Little Surfer Girl" by the Beach Boys to me every night until I fell asleep when I was little. I even have video of him singing it to me a few days after I was born. I got in an elevator yesterday and it was playing, I couldn't stop the tears, I'm sure everyone thought I was a freak......

What song makes you cry no matter where you hear it? Why?
