Why do you think that we, who belong to a Fil-Chi family, are usually limited to marrying another Fil-Chi?
Is it because of our culture that only a fellow Filipino-Chinese can understand? [Non Fil-Chi are also encouraged to share their insights...]

I'd say it's a culture thing. Certainly, it may be a scary thought to you -if every 'Fil-Chi' were to marry an American tomorrow -it would be fifty years before the culture was demolished. Marrying within protects the culture.
I mean, many Greek and Italian families prefer marriage within the nationality. There are certainly others as well with the same opinion -it's not some random phenomenon.
