my mp4 player's speakers are still working even if the earphone is plugged?

so why is this happening? even if i plugged the earphone, the speakers are working. normaly, the speakers should not work when the earphone is plugged. how can i fix this problem?

    bring it in for repair at like the place where you bought it

    Dear JJ,

    Look on your mp4 player for a setting that might read "external speakers off". That will turn off the EXTERNAL SPEAKERS ONLY, and still allow you to listen through your head set as you normally do. Hope that helps.
