The snow is making valentines

Of every bush and tree;

Falling, falling on the pines,

Making paper valentines

For all the world to see.

Across the dusk her patterns trace

A quaintly drawn design,

Till every little window face

Has decked itself in scalloped lace

And turned a valentine.

By hill and vale her shadow gropes,

Descending here and there,

Until the wintry ...
