Verizon FIOS?

What is your opinion on it compared to Digital Cable or Direct TV. Direct TV now has the most HD channels of anyone by far. IMO FIOS is just a way for Verizon to take back some of the business the cable compaines took when they got into phones. IMO it's not better than Digital Cable and maybe even worse since there is no HD on demand.

Update:

HD VOD is not available in all areas from what I have read on Verizon's site. I have had Fios for just over 1 year and never had HD On-Demand. Maybe another year it will be in my area. Also good to hear what HD they do offer is better then others.

As a video calibrator, I have been to hundreds of homes with Dish Network, DirecTV, Fios TV, Cox, Comcast, Charter Cable, etc. Fios TV offers the highest quality (most bandwidth) HD images. Unfortunatly, they offer the least amount of HD channels. Fios TV actually does offer some HD On Demand content. I know because I use Fios TV. DirecTV offers some of the worst HD images (Low bandwidth, less sharp). Local Cable providers and in my opinion offer a great selection of HD channels and high quality. If you want quality get Fios, quantity, get DirecTV.
