Screwed by Chase 35,000 rewards points gone after 8+ years.?
After a few weeks of using a new card I made a phone call asking what had changed and confirming Platinum status and benefits including rewards points. I was told everything was still the same and just the appearance of the card. When I told the rep it looked like an ordinary card that anyone could have he then offered to change to a different rewards card. He explained it will allow me to receive higher rewards all around just better. I made the change based on his suggestion. Now I noticed my 35,000 points I had are down to 1,700. Chase now told me when I made the change the points were erased. I then said I was never told that and I only made the change based on the reps suggestion. I want my points back and all I was told is she would put a request in but no guarantee. Is there anything else I should do? They basically convinced me to change then robbed me blind.

Yes you did get screwed...you basically fell into a sales trap. You probably won't get the points back, but what you can do is close the account and open with a different company.
I closed my fathers Chase account after they added another charge that wasn't authorized. They tried to stop me from closing the account and begged and pleaded...
Even though you lost your points, you shouldn't do business with a company that cheated you out of your points. When you call and close the account, they will beg and plead you not to close it...you'll feel better.
