have you ever been discouraged?

have you ever been discouraged answering coz most askers do not choose the best answer?

i feel so dismayed especially when it took me a lot of thinking and pain in order to come up with a good answer.

It was discouraging the 1st few times, but now I'm used to it. The way I look at it now, maybe someone clicked on the quiestion, found my answer & in some way benefitted from it..

Honestly, I don't think about it. If the asker likes what I have to say and they choose my answer it means very little. I just like knowing that I have helped some how, some way, to bring them some insight.

What better feeling in the world is there than helping some one find the answer that's RIGHT for THEM? If it is my answer, your answer, or the answer of some random passer by, it is how it impacted the asker that really matters. We are here to help others by providing answers, not pad our egos by being chosen as the "Best Answer" so we can lord it over others.

I know what you mean. Last week someone asked for help in figuring out the title of a book. Based on very little information, I was able to find the title and author and posted it. I still have not gotten "best answer" or any comment from this person who was so desperate for this information.

Edit: Lii, I see no reason to bring up "gay" people.

I don't worry about it. If your looking to get best answer everytime you answer you would be discouraged. I just answer the questions and move on, if I get best answer great if not oh well, maybe I still helped someone.

It seems to me like people ask questions looking for someone to approve of what they said. They dont choose the best answer based on the correctness of it but based on what answer they want to see.

    It annoys me.

Source(s): I agree capt. Even if my answer isnt the best one, more than that person will read what i wrote and may have been influenced by it, or may see the question in a different light.

I can't really cheer you up but i can say something else: No matter how good you are there will always be someone somewhere better than you, just like you are better that other people.

    and

the asker probably was a gay person with a gay taste in answers. don't be put off.

Do you answer to get a best answer or because you are trying to be helpful. It amuses me when I get a best answer, but I don't worry about it if I don't. I am answering to assist others, NOT for my own gain.

yes i have. i try to give them the best answer possible but they seemed to not like the answer that was given by me.

i research on yahoo and google to give them the best answer to satisfy them but... it never seems like it's working.
