Automatic 94 Ford Explorer Limited Edition problem.?

Question

So Im having some troubles with my truck.  As I put it into drive and press my foot onto the pedal, the engine sputters and jumps for a couple seconds and then the truck moves, but it has little to no pickup behind it.  Also sometimes when Im at a complete stop and I press my foot on the gas, the engine doesnt rev at all for a couple seconds, and then it will start me moving.

When I floor the pedal, the engine sputters and then begins to rev, but the gears dont catch and I wind up going nowhere.  

When I am moving and I take my foot off the gas and then put it back on, the engine waits a few seconds and then begins to rev and I continue on moving.

A family friend that is a head mechanic for the State Police said that the reason for the sputtering is because the seals in my transmission have hardened up, and to put a shot of brake fluid in my transmission fluid to soften them up, but it didnt work.  What might be the reason that my truck wont accelerate fast and the sputtering?

putting brake fluid in your transmission will only swell any rubber seals or o rings in your transmission and possibly render it useless,this is something only practiced by shade tree mechanics or as a last resort,call a tranny shop and ask for your self!! you could have a bad maf sensor or weak fuel pressure or tune up or a loose vacuum hose,with out any diagnostic equipment hooked up to your truck its only best guess at this point good luck.

sounds like the vacum there is a place right on the driverside under the hood you will see 3 or 4  of them i had it happen to me make sure the plug off they will make your truck run like you said
