Why are my subs louder when i open my trunk ?

Ok so i have thtree ten inch audiobahns in a huge ported box wth a directed audio d2400 in the back of a ford thunderbird and when i set my system it was so loud on the inside of the car with my trunk open it was amazing ,then when i shut my trunk the subs got alot quieter. is there anything i can do to make them as loud inside the car with the trunk closed as it is with the trunk open?

Update:

it is because of the fact there is cancellation of sound waves while the trunk is closed. The sound waves are being pondered off the trunk and then being cancelled out. once you open the trunk the waves are actually not pondered off the trunk and hte cancellation does not take place. a thank you to repair it truly is to go the field around. You pronounced you already did this although. what share positions did you attempt? oftentimes firing your subs backward will result interior the loudest bass. dealing with them forward, torward the front of the vehicle, will commonly result interior the terrific sound high quality. in basic terms by way of experimenting with distinctive positions is going to be your terrific thank you to repair this. stable success!!!

which way are the subs facing? One rule i heard was the greater the distance the subs are from your ear the more the bass can expand thus making the bass louder.Insulation also creates more decibel of sound

like snow_.... - isn't it because if you close your trunk, you have some glass and metal between you and speakers? :D it does the sound more quiet :-) omfg
