What in the hell is our government thinking??

What are your feelings about poverty in the US and California? And what are some ways you feel this can be resolved, and what some of the causes may be for this problem?

Update:

California has one of the highest poverty rates in the nation 16 percent to the rest of the nations 12, and in certain cities like San Francisco the rates are around 20 plus percent.

How about kicking 15 million mostly uneducated criminals who illegally entered this country out? That alone would save over $150 billion annually at all levels of government.

As the first answer so eloquently demonstrates:

Life is tough. It's tougher when you're stupid.

Illegal immigration is causing much of it, along with the private Federal Reserve stealing wealth from Americans through inflation (AKA the Inflation Tax). Don't think the Democrats are going to save you from the evil Republicans - they are all in bed with each other. They are all CFR whores, with a few exceptions - but those people are marginalized by the media and never make it too far.

What does the poverty rates in Cali tell you about socialist policies? It causes more problems than it helps.

    1. I thought the Clinton's, in their 8 years, eliminated poverty.

    2. However, if some were left behind during that period of peace and prosperity, let's find some great leaders, scientists, entertainers, doctors, lawyers, and business leaders who overcame their poverty and ask them how they did it - then implement that plan for every legal citizen SMART enough to do the same thing.

Uh, I'm not sure what planet you're from, but California is a liberal utopia. Hence there cannot be poverty. They eliminated it.

Poverty is only a problem in those conservative states, like Utah.

There have always been poor and there always will. Many are that way because of lazyness or mental conditions or ignorance. Not everyone has enough of an IQ to be a success in modern culture.

California's poverty problem has a lot to do with overinflated housing prices.
