Whenever you make changes to you kittens' routine, you have to do it gradually. Transitioning is the key word. Cats and kittens are very protective of their routine. All their life, the need to be assured that everything remains pretty much the same and that any major changes has to be introduced to them slowly.

When you make sudden changes like that, you confused your kittens. They could not cope with it and it's very stressful for them. So, it's not strange that they are not using the NEW BOX with the NEW LITTER.

Do you still have some of the old litter? If so, please keep it a little while longer and use it. If not, go out and buy a small bag. Empty the new box and pour the old litter back. Then, gradually mix the new and the old until you fully transition them to the new litter.

If you've already thrown out everything that is familiar to them and absolutely can't buy back the same litter they used before, you have to start back at square one. Retrainning. It will take some time. Kittens might choose to eliminate outside the litter box. It will take a lot of patience but not impossible.

Reintroduce them to the litter box. Place them in the box after each meal, playtime, naptime. Encourage them, reward them when they step into the box, eventhough if they fail to use it. Repeat, repeat and repeat.

Good Luck to you and remember now, everything you change their routine, do it slowly or you will have to do everything all over again.

If you want to change brands of cat litter (or cat food) you have to do it slowly. Use the old brand and gradually add some of the new brand into it every day for at least a week. For example if you had a cup of cat littler, you would substitute in a tablespoon of the new cat litter for the old cat litter for 2 days, then 1/4 cup, then 1/2 of a cup,3/4 cup etc. until you are no longer using the old brand. Animals do not like quick change with their food or brand of litter. I

They usually learn by watching their mom and siblings use it first. Some learn slower than others, but if in a week or two he still isn't using it then get him checked. My friend had a cat that would pee in front of her all the time and when they went to the vet it turned out she had an infection. Just put him in the litter area until he goes.

all you can do is go back to the old brand. Your cats have figured out the smell of their litter box and by changing brands you mess with that. They don't know that their box is theirs. if you have your heart set on the new litter, try mixing them and weening them off the old litter slowly

You should never just get rid of the litter you were using. Always do it slowly by adding a little of the new stuff once a week until you weed it out. Best of luck

I know that I would be worried if they didn't go. Go back to the brand that you were using before you changed.

I would just stick with what you had or try a different litter. Usually, like everyhting else, you get what you pay for.
