A governor is the person who runs/leads a state. The mayor is the equivalent for a city.

    Just remember this:

    Hamlet/Village/Town/City- Mayor (generally)

    County- County Executive

    State- Governor

    Country- President

The government takes over our state, the taxes, the laws, etc..

The mayor takes over the city, how our city will be brought up in the volunteer work or smaller laws depending on what the mayor feels is right for his city.
