Should there be a limit on the amount money a person or a company can donate to a candidate?
Should the limit be $1,000.00
Should they ban the $2,0000 a plate dinners. what about the small guys, why not have a $5.00 a plate dinner so I can go. Or do the candidate think they are worth more?

There is a limit, $2,700.
The high cost per plate dinners do more for the party then the candidate. Recent ones have had prices of around $30K (Obama) and around $80K (McCain.) The candidate gets the $2,700 they're allowed, the party gets the rest.

There are such limits on individual donations. There are ways around it, with the 527 groups, etc.
It could be argued, and has been by George Will in particular, that political donations represent free speech, and that limits violate our first amendment rights. I don't like the role of money in politics, but he does have a point.

Yes. $0.00. That's right nada, zip, zilch-o. Nuttin. The big goose egg. The donut hole. Air. Negative number. Not a red cent, a round dime or a plugged nickel. Not a buck, a fin or a saw.
Let me see if I'm really clear on this. Did I mention NOTHING????
