Is it time to buy an Xbox 360 yet?

I read that Microsoft was going to move to a new hardware revision that was expected to fix previous reliability issues - have they done this? Has it worked? What model(s) should I buy if I don't want to have to deal with warranty returns?

Well right now is a good time to get a 360, they are pretty cheap with all the price drops. So far Microsoft has done 3 hardware revisions. Xenos: the launch hardware.

Zephyr: the next board that had HDMI port. And then came the Falcon: HDMI and 65nm CPU (runs cooler, less power consumption too). Falcon seemed to be the most reliable yet, but still not perfect.

Next up is Jasper with 65nm CPU and GPU. This should cut broken console number by a lot.

Microsoft is working on this problem. But it's also not as bad as some non owners think.

I have had to send mine in once because it was scratching disks (early on a batch of 360s did this, now fixed). Just get one. You'll love it and it probably won't break.

All new consoles now are Falcon, arcade, pro, elite, whatev. I don't know if jaspers are out yet as I don't follow such news anymore but when that comes out that will be even more reliable than the already good falcon

the best model is the elite. but alas it is 399, which is the exact same price as the ps3. in the end, you will end up spending more for a 360 cuz u have to pay for online.
