Will the System Software of my PS3 go back if I try to restore it?
my PS3 won't read games so I'm tryin' to restore it

Does it play DVDs??
If not the laser has packed in as it is a common fault with the PS3.
Ok this is what to do mate. I had the same problem only last week.
Their is a manufacturing fault with the PS3 depending on when you bought it. Telephone the Playstation Customer Service number on the back page of any of your PS3 games. The UK number is at the bottom.
Just tell them that it wont load discs at all and they will sort you out.
Im getting a replacement sent on Thursday (A delivery man takes just the console and will give you a new one) u keep the box and all the wires and make sure you leave no games in it because you wont be able to get them back.
I got through to the customer service almost immediately on friday night at 9.30pm and they were first class and it took 10 minutes to sort out. They will need the serial number off the back and your address but you do not need your warranty or nothing. Just a straight console swap.
I wouldn't worry about it as its a common occurrence just now. I hope you get it sorted as quick as I did.

mine did that before. Just call Sony and they will help you with out deleting any of your files. Thats what I had to do
