What is the best way to get new keys and fobs for a 2006 Scion xB? I have one origional and the 5 digit tag?

Lost one set of keys and both remote keyless entry fobs. I really don't want to spend hundreds of dollars at the dealership, is there a better way?

If you've lost BOTH key fobs you're going to have bring the car in to a dealership to get Toyota key fobs.

The 5 digit tag only allows the Toyota dealer to cut you a new chip-less key. (06 Scion xB don't need chip keys)

I bet an aftermarket alarm with keyfobs can be installed at BestBuy for cheaper than Toyota's factory fobs can be purchased an programmed

    Scion Xb Key

Your key code is the 5 digit tag you can take that into the dealership to have new made but it will cost around $300 for each keyless set. the cost is because they have to program the keyfob. That or you can look into the remote start which would be around the same but you would get the remote start and 2 keyfobs.

All you can do is go to the dealership. The key fobs themselves should only be 50.00 or so, but they would have to be programmed. If it were simple, I would walk you through it, but it's not.

The key itself should not be that expensive. You do not have an engine immobilizer in the xB (my wife has the same vehicle). I got a key for nothing at my dealership. My charge would have only been about 5-6.00 for the key. But the fob is more.

Take it in to a Scion dealership. Unfortunately, that is your only option for the fob.

Yes, a Scion would fit you well. I think the xA model is nice, but my favorite is the xB model. The xB is really good for teenagers and is a great car to start with. My brother owns a Scion Xb, but I always smoke him with my Mitsubishi Evo VIII.

Take it to the dealership, the will order you a new set. You may have to show them registration to the vehicle. But other than that it should be pretty painless.
