Oh come on. HAVE YOU GUYS NOT SEEN THE WORLD LATELY?!? Kids bringing guns to schools, the world becoming even more dangerous. Please!! I think they should not ban phones from schools or as a matter of fact not have them off in school either. Because what if an incident like Virginia tech or Columbia high occurs again? You need to quickly be able to contact the authorities and call your parents to let them know what is going on.

It is a very scary feeling being stuck in a school with teens holding other teens hostage with weapons. I bet you never felt that now have you?

Why keep the kids in school though? Personally I think they should let them out of the windows. But keep them there in the classroom? Sure, giving the kid a death wish before he goes. NICE!!

Now you have no phone, and that happens. Every teacher or adult in the school is dead. How will you call the police to let them know??? YOU CANT!!!

What if your kid has their phone turned off, and an incident like that occurs. You want him/her to call 911 immediately, now if the phone is turned off and he/she tries to call. Your kid might end up having a souvenir through the side of his head, if you know what I mean? "bullet" = "death" Hint hint.

Hoe would you feel if in a supermarket queue the checkout operator answered their mobile (cell) phone and started a conversation whilst the people in the queue waited?

Or a paramedic on a call stopped to read a text message?

The school is teaching the children that there is a time and a place for everything, there are jobs that they might have which having your mobile (cell) phone on you is a sackable offence.

Also the phones in school can cause problems in other ways, bullying other children for not having the latest phone, or theft, they are quite valuable property.

The school has got it right, the kids have plenty of time to use their phones before and after school.

In some cases I believe that cell phones should be allowed in school's but should not be turned on during class time. You could be in a bathroom and someone could lock you in and you could use your cell phone to call for help. If it's raining and the student missed the bus he/she can call their parents to go pick them up instead of having to use the main office phone.

Cell phones should be outlawed period. The world got along just fine without them for centuries. I work for Verizon Wireless (outsourced, nobody works for Verizon that I know of) and all night long I take calls from drama queens who tell me that their life is ruined forever because they didn't get the text message of a ballgame score. After 20 calls in a row I'm wishing Alexander Graham Bell was never born. -Sorry for the rant.

What kind of poor as* school district would allow kids to have cell phones? West Virginia? Not one that educates. And if you are a parent that is asking this, shame on you.

Cell phones are a distraction children dont need. If Anyone needs to get ahold of them they can call the school.
