Anthophobia is an irrational fear of flowers, not just roses.

Like all phobias, it may or may not have an obvious 'trigger' in early life.

Having never heard of this before, I note that this 'fact' is quoted on many somewhat dubious websites. I have been unable to verify it using any site which I consider to be historically and academically reliable.

No-one is ever likely to know the real reason, even if this 'fact' is actually a 'fact', although no doubt there are many theories (none of which can ever be proven).

I have never heard of this before. Could you tell us where you got this information from? I have read several books on Queen Elizabeth I, and none of them mention this at all. The books i have on her though all mention that sh eliked to go walking in the gardens, and I feel that she would not have enjoyed this had she been afraid of flowers.
