5.1 Surround sound from PC to Sony DAV - DZ260 HELP!?
Hello, I want to connect my PC to my Sony surround sound system thing but I have a problem with the connections available.
I'm trying to use a mini plug 3.5mm audio jack thingy which works but does not give surround sound .
On the back of my pc I have different coloured holes for different audio outputs - brown for centre/subwoofer, black for rear speaker, green for front speaker, and grey for side speaker.
Is there a jack available that has all 4 heads in each of these colours at one end and a single head on the other end to put into my dvd part of the surround system? RCA cables are not the answer because they won't go into my pc. I can only use those little mini plug 3.5mm jack things.
Please help!
Thanks
Mx
I believe it is set to surround sound. I have the Realtek HD Audio manager and used this to set to surround - But I only get stereo output.
Thanks

Set the Realtek to send "PCM" to the receiver, using the orange output, and the receiver will decode the surround for you. I have to do this on my bedroom system because the receiver doesn't have discrete analog inputs for each chanel. This solution works fine for me.
Come to think of it, I do this in my main theater room too. I trust an $1800 Yamaha surround processor to do a better job than freebie software/hardware that came installed on my PCs.

A TOSLINK optical cable is only able to wearing Dolby digital 5.a million and DTS 5.a million, and also stereo PCM. those 5.a million encompass codecs were compressed employing a lossy set of rules, meaning the dynamic selection of audio is narrowed in places and some sound archives is bumped off to make the audio in good structure right into a smaller area. at the same time as the sound archives is decompressed through the receiver, you won't be able to get the bumped off audio archives back, it really is lost. it really is why they call the compression "lossy". Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD draw close Audio are also compressed encompass codecs, despite the undeniable fact that the compression is lossless. So at the same time as the audio archives is decompressed through a in a position receiver, you get each and every of the unique audio archives back. you would possibly want to be listening to the studio's draw close audio for the movie. there is not yet another, extra positive soundtrack accessible. yet you want a receiver which could procedure HD audio from an HDMI appropriate Blu-ray participant. some HDMI receivers can procedure DD and DTS 5.a million from an optical connection, yet they are going to easily bypass HDMI audio by way of to a television and under no circumstances procedure it. So those receivers received't enable you to hearken to draw close audio codecs, only the narrower dynamic selection, lossy ones. no matter if you listen the version relies upon on the accepted and wattage of your encompass device, and also your own ears. I do imagine that the HD audio codecs are fantastically extra positive, although i'm a lot less offered on the only or 2 extra channels which also are available with 6.a million and 7.a million encompass (i imagine 5.a million audio device is adequate). There are Blu-ray discs that contain both the lossy (DTS) and lossless (DTS-HD) variations of soundtracks. in case you locate one, one which has also been reviewed as having very solid sound, take it to a keep with a superior demo device set up, and also you'll then toggle between both soundtracks at the same time as the movie continues to be taking section in rather of swapping discs. the volume element between both varieties would seem diverse, yet you have to be listening rather for adjustments in sound high quality, environment, and realism.

Does your sound card inside your pc have surround sound support?
You may have to change the audio settings inside your pc so that the output is surround sound. If the sound is coming from your pc then it will be producing STEREO SOUND not 5.1 surround sound. You will probably need to change the settings.
Sorry i couldnt help you.I hope that you fix the problem
