Do I really need a stomp pad?

I'm a beginner, new to snowboarding.

stomp pad is a grip to place your free foot while getting off lift.

I've read you don't really need this if you don't want to ruin your graphics.

I'd rather not get one, will I be okay getting off the lift? Is it harder or unsafe? Where do you put your foot if you don't have one?

The true answer is technically NO, I've never had a stomp pad in my 8 years of riding and still don't even see a real need for it. It's not that hard to get off lifts, not only that but they look tacky and ruin the look of the board so personally I think it's just stupid to have one.

Not at all. One of my friends is an AMAZING snownoarder, like no joke. He's been offered many sponserships. He can do pretty much anything it seems, I've seen him 720 japan (tweaked nosegrab) with only one binding in over a 75 foot jump. If he didn't have a stomp pad he would be DEAD. So no, stomp pads are n00bish so don't worry. Another thing about snowboarding, maybe it's just in my area but it is a very chill sport, and nobody really judges anybody. It's just about having fun. Nobody cares if you wore 100 pads and used a walker and fell off the lift. As long as you're having fun and not getting in anybodys way, it realy shouldn't matter anyways. (:

    Snowboard Stomp Pad

The answer is probably you don't really need one. But it is a big help. I don't have one and I can I do fine getting off lifts but it is harder because your foot slides around.

If you are just starting, you will probably want to have one. I wouldn't consider it harder or unsafe if you get the hang of it and can get off lifts successfully. However, I'd really suggest having one. If you don't have a stomp pad, you put your foot in the same place, but you have to be careful because it is slippery.

If you are worried about your graphics and want a stomp pad, I believe there are clear ones that aren't as obtrusive. If you are really worried about your graphics, you don't need a stomp pad.

No you don't need one, for beginners i recommend it though.

I had a clear one so you could see the graphics through it.

Just the other day it fell off and i didn't really notice. Every now and then your foot will slip when you get off the lift but really its not that important it just makes it slightly easier.

I haven't decided if I'm going to get one to replace it or not. You put your foot in the same place.

So basically its your call. Its whatever feels more comfrotable or convienant for you.

    have fun! :]

Ok, here I go. You dont need one. But its handy if your a beginner. Its not about ruining graphics. Who cares about graphics. Its really about slipping off the board when coming off the chair, and screwing everyone up around you. Then they get mad, and your by yourself. (personal experience). So you dont need one but they are good. I have snowboarded for 7 years, and have always had a stomp pad.

I have never had one and the only problem I have ever had is that my foot will slip off my board sometimes. Sure, it would be more convenient to have one but I don't want to ruin my graphics either. Try it without one and if you are having problems with the lift then get one for your convenience.

no stomp pads are kinda gay and get in the way you just want to put your foot snug against ur back binding when getting off stomp pads ruin the graphic

The short answer is, YES, you do need one because traction is important when exiting the lift, and there is no need to cover board graphics as they make clear ones, and also ones that are like traction spikes, instead of being one solid piece of plastic there are several little transparent spikes to stick on. Try Big 5, Sports Authority or support your local Boardshop !

Ive had no problems as long as you just imagine keeping the loose foot planted on it (except on special occasions e.g. falling) the you should be fine. Try to ride it like a skatboard
