Which foot should be my leading foot?

I've tried every trick in the book to find out if you're goofy or regular.

It's always my right foot.

But when I'm on the slopes, i'm slightly less adept at maneuvering with my right foot leading. Both are okay,, i fall slightly more often with the right one leading.

Should I just go ahead and use my left to lead?

If you've already tried riding goofy and don't feel as comfortable as riding regular than obviously you should just ride regular, just go with what's most comfortable is always the best choice :).

It does sound like your dominate foot is the left if that is what is more comfortable. The thing with snowboarding is that the heel turn, or in your case the left turn is more easy that the toe turn, or right turn. Most beginners will tend to also do a heel turn to go to the right, which means that they do this with the right foot leading. This can create confusement in try to figure out if you are goofy or regular. My best advise is to always keep your left foot in front. If you are still learning the toe turn it is much easier on a small pitched slope where you won't go to fast and have more contol. Keep practicing those toe turns. You will fall, and will most likely catch your heel edge a few times before you get this down.

Taking a lesson will really help you get over the beginner steps so that you can start riding the whole mountain more effecient and sooner.

    HOpe this helps.

how do you slide on the floor? while that's not 100% always the case usually that's a determining factor... I am very left footed myself but I ride regular but its what feels comfortable to me. Honestly though weather you ride regular or switch its all the same. You pressure your lead foot towards the nose of the board with more weight on the heel or pinky toe to initiate the turn. So as long as you weight the board properly you can ride either way very easily.

Yes, use your left. The other ways are to help you figure out which is probably your lead foot. Riding is the only way to determine which stance is best for you, so go with whatever is more comfortable.

Me too! My right foot is the lead getting off its easier to go on my right so i'm goofy. But, when i just go down the hill i just go on my left, and i jump, and grind on my right foot. So you have to make your right foot lead and learn how to go down the hill left but with the right foot lead because if you fall jumping and grinding then that is worse then falling just going down. So make your right foot to lead.

it honestly doesnt matter if you are just starting out, because you are starting from scratch, whichever style you chose and stick with will soon dominate in comfort over the other. buttttt, have you tried having someone push you in the back while you have both feet in place and see which of your feet goes forward to keep your balance? thats what i do when i set my customers up with boards...

  • it doesn't matter if uve tried every trick in the book to see which way u should lead, its the one that you fall less with and feel more comfortable with.

when you ride a scooter, which foot is on the scooter? the foot that isn't pushing the scooter is your lead foot.

    hope this helps
