Are CF-18s Carrier capable?

actually, I know they still do have their tailhooks and launch bars but does RCAF actually sometimes fly them off carrier? (maybe during training with the US?)

I doubt they are since carrier landings require a whole set of new skills but I would like a definitive answer.

(and yes, I know Canada does not have any aircraft carriers---but are they or have they ever, been landed and launched from a carrier?)

The plane MIGHT be capable, but most likely the pilot is not trained for carrier ops like his American, British, etc counterparts.

In addition , I believe, to save money, the ACLS is not installed.

The Canadian F18 is no different besides some electronic diffrances that we have i do not believe that the have the E or F models yet but the do have A,B,C, and D. the hoot is used for the carries but also for emergency situations. when ever we have an F18 inbound with a problem the usually that a trap or arrestment for safety reasons so that is why the keep the hook as for the launch bar why pay to make a change when it will not affect anything.
