Find out make and model of motherboard, check mb website for specs. Usually if both types can be run, the worst is that they'll run at the slower pc2700 speed. Also if his comp is connected to internet, www.crucial.com has an auto configurator that can help tremendously in finding out what ram you can run. Good luck!

Yes, it will run the 2700. But ... all of his memory will run at 2700 and not at 3200. So you will have increased the mb of RAM, but slowed it down.

i'm guessing the chips are all the comparable velocity? i'm additionally guessing that in case you get rid of the piddlin' 128mb chip and basically leave the huge boys in, Vista will sense extra effective concerning to the entire difficulty.
