Russian box tortoise behaving strangely.?

Our tortoise, who is about 3 or 4 years old, has become extremely active this Spring, climbing over everything in sight, pacing around the family room far more than usual, and sometimes trying to nip at people's toes. Could he be going through adolescence or something? Also, could he use more food or different food? He eats vegetables and a weekly calcium supplement. Anyone seen this phenomenon before?

    1. Never feed any meat or protien to your tortoise, their digestive system can't handle it and they will turn out deformed. Maybe nipping at peoples toes, it's most likely him trying to mate, Pacing after winter the tortoise starts to speed up again when spring comes so the tortoise must search the perimeter to be sure it is safe for him. Id this keeps up give him some food while he walks around and try not to handle him too much.

Well im really smart on aquatic turtles and not so much on land turtles or tortoises but can tell you that maybe give him some protein (just some like as a triet not as a normal diet) like crikets or worms and if he is big enough maybe some small fish (on land)
