Manual 1997 Saturn Shifter Cable Question?

I recently took my 1997 SL1 Saturn in to get a oil change, While they were moving the car out of the garage the shifter cable broke. My car is stuck at the repair shop now, and will not move out of reverse. How much generally is it to repair a shifter cable (parts and labor). They have quoted me of $575 for parts, labor, and tax. It is that a decent price. The problem is my car is stuck there, so if I take it elsewhere I would need to tow it. They kind of have all the control because my car is stuck there, I don't not want them to take advantage of me because of this. Thanks for any help!

shift cables just don't brake, its as uncoman as a rear end gear going out.

ask to see it up on the rack and se an actual cable broken.

    just sound funny/wierd to me
