What causes a cat to sporadically act sick?

About 8 months ago, my cat started acting sick. She didn't want to eat much, didn't move much and didn't want to play. I took her to the vet and had a blood panel done but they couldn't figure out anything wrong with her and they wanted to do a bunch of tests I couldn't afford. I took her home and she was fine a few days later. This past week, she started acting sick again. I didn't take her to the vet, and now she's back to herself. Any ideas?

She is indoors only, spayed, and we don't use poisons or anything around the house.

Update:

She has been FIV/FELV tested negative

I would do the tests they want to do, there could be something really awful coming.

I would test her for feline leukemia because usually cats that get the disease often get sick.
