Please help me figure out the answers.

SUBTRACTING

    ^ means power thing eg. ² can be written as ^2

    You look at the variables and combine like terms. If you have 'kx' (where k is a constant), you combine all terms that resemble 'kx'. If you have 'k' (which would just be a single number, such as 8), you combine all the 'k' terms. If you had 'kx^2' (where ^2 means "squared"), you would combine all 'kx^2' terms.

    I'll answer the first of the addition, and the first of the subtraction.

    Subtraction:

    (14x + 5) + (10x + 5) Factor the positive sign into the 2nd term

    =14x + 5 + 10x + 5 Combine like terms

    =24x + 10

    Addition:

    (6x + 14) - (9x + 5) Here, distribute the negative sign into the second term

    =6x + 14 - 9x - 5 Now, combine like terms.

    = -3x + 9

    When adding and subtracting polynomials, you have to find like terms. For example in the first question, (ab) and (6ab) are like terms. ab - 6ab = -5ab, and -9 - 8 = -17. So the answer is D. -5ab - 17. In the second one, x and -x, and -9 and 17 are like terms. x^2 has no other like terms in the second grouping, so you get: x^2 + (x + -x) + (-9 + 17) = x^2 + 0 + 8 = x^2 + 8, D.

    No one is going to do all that for you! You should have posted just one of the problems, then learn how to do it, then use that to do the other problems by yourself. People like me would be more willing to help you

    you really dont know how to do this? here, i hope this helps:

    just add the coeffecients of the values that have the same x value. so add all the x's together, all the x squared, and so on and so forth. its really simple, and you will think it is so easy once you understand.
