Pro's and Con's of Vegetarianism?

I don't mean vegans (the people who don't eat dairy products, etc.) I mean vegetarians. I'm thinking trying it out, some people think it's a good idea others don't. Please tell me what you think, and no negative comments. And, no I'm not a hippie or anything, I'm just wondering to see if it's worth it. And, vegetarians, please tell me what you think. Thanks :)!

Update:

Thanks, I did some more research and I think I'm leaning more towards pescatarianism than vegetarianism (because I just love fish). Thank you!!

Eat what makes you happy. Don't listen to that anarchist moron about animal torture. He or she will eat meat eventually. Chances are they are rebelling against their parents. The fad will pass.As for you Both are healthy diets. The most important part of being a vegetarian is that you eat right and eat lots of protein and take supplements.

The most effective factor I ought to rant approximately is of direction you can make a change! You can not fully difference the arena like exchanging a TV channel, however your alterations will make a change in lots of lives. Health strategies: + Listen for your frame. If you begin getting in poor health or susceptible, again up and check out another course or slower shift. (I had an excessively convenient, energizing shift to veganism, however now not every person does). + Join a few vegetarian agencies or begin one, and proportion healthful cooking recommendations. Find a few men and women who have been cooking and consuming veg for a whilst. + Eat healthful -- when you've got problems demanding approximately your possess wellbeing, then do it for the reason that each and every healthful vegetarian is a lot more more likely to persuade different men and women to difference, and keep an extra thousand animals' lives. Just mainly, extra contemporary end result and veggies, entire grains and beans, much less soda and cheezy poofs. + Eat ample protein with out demanding approximately it an excessive amount of. Some of probably the most average deficiencies are iron (for ladies) and calcium deficiency (those are fashionable throughout each veg and non-veg), and too little omega-three fatty acids (fish oils, flax seed oil -- you'll get "dietary supplements" which are conveniently the oils in a tablet). If you move vegan or close it, be definite to take a B-12 complement -- that is the only factor that is relatively lacking. + Get a few vitamins books and begin studying, adding each vegetarian-advocacy and fundamental-technological know-how. Most men and women -- veg or meat-eaters -- recognize little or no approximately the meals we installed our mouths. I'd suggest staying clear of any detailed fad, and simply attempting a couple of one of a kind books. + Good good fortune! Experiment with one of a kind meals and feature amusing!

I personally would never become a vegetarian because I feel that meat is very healthy for you and contains a lot of protein and nutrients, but of course the meat should be organic (the animals should be pasture fed) This way you won't be eating any of those synthetic hormones that they put in the majority of meat nowadays...EW!

But a lot of vegetarians will tell you that they feel healthier after they began the diet.

I guess as long as you make sure that you are getting all the vitamins and nutrients that you need to keep healthy, it ain't so bad!

Good Luck with the diet and take care! :)

Pros: Its a much healthier diet, depending on what type of diet you choose. Pescetarianism is healthy. Eating certain kinds of fish raises HDL (so-called "good cholesterol) levels, and some fish are a convenient source of omega-3 fatty acids.

Cons: There would be more cons if you chose to become vegan, especially since you are a woman. But since you won't be doing that, you'll probably be okay.

The pros are abundant, but the main three categories are that it's kinder, healthier, and better for the environment.

A few cons are that you can get a little malnourished or develop anemia if you don't know anything about nutrition (but this is easily avoidable), society isn't always accepting, and if you have bad eyes the fine print on the ingredients label can make them worse (I suggest a magnifying glass).

Pros: U'll be a lot healthier in terms of cholesterol, physique, and a lot of problems most americans have (not to mention you wont be consuming any of those nasty chemicals corporations use to preserve meat); you'll be reducing the number of animals bred and slaughtered for food; You wont spend as much money on food, seeing as meat is more expensive than veggies; It improves your self control like crazy

Cons: You have to work a little harder to make sure your replacing all of the nutrient sources that would have been meat had you not decided to become a vegetarian.

I LOVE meat, but after reading this book it kinda changed my life...it's a study that involved a 20 year partnership with Oxford University, Cornell University and the Chinese Academy of Preventative Medicine....so its legit. Its also an NY times bestseller...

By omitting meat from my diet I feel like I might be able to prevent cancer and heart disease in myself, the two diseases seem to be predominantly plaguing western societies....I have more energy now, have lost weight, and my cholesterol is way lower...People might call you a hippie but I think you will be healthier for it in the end. I have also discovered a lot of new recipes and its fun, I feel like I have a lot more options in terms of food now, there are so many different kinds of plant proteins!

    Pros:

-The satisfaction of knowing you aren't hurting innocent, tortured animals

-How much healthier you will be

-The money you will be saving from not buying expensive steaks/pork

    -Not getting meat-related diseases

    Cons:

-How it's harder to eat out

-Missing the taste(not for me tho, just the smell of meat makes me gag)

Spoken from a 12 year-old vegetarian who had been for almost 9 years by choice(parents aren't)

    Well go for it!

    Go veg!!

Pros: You can stop feeling guilty that you're responsible for animals being killed. It's healthier because you're not taking in as much saturated fat. It's better for the environment - cattle farms in particular are highly detrimental to the environment.

Cons: you don't get to eat meat. You have to be careful about getting enough protein and iron. Eating out can be tricky.

    I am a current vegetarian.

Pros- You can stand up for animal rights, you can live a very healthy lifestyle, you also feel proud of yourself and more energized for longer time periods. OH! and you can also just be a pecatarian and eat fish.

cons- you HAVE to get your protein some how(whether its by shot or fake vegetarian meat or beans) Its hard to just quit cold turkey(no not the meat)

Source(s): im a long time vegetarian(:
