An ecosystem is a system of interdependent organisms which share the same habitat, in an area functioning together with all of the physical (abiotic) factors of the environment.
Ecosystems can be permanent or temporary. Ecosystems usually form a number of food webs.

To simplify it further =
In ANY given locality there are ABIOTIC( Non - Living) factors or components , such as , air and the gases in it , water and the dissolved components in it , light and all the colors in it ( wavelengths )
soil and all the minerals in it .
Likewise , in ANY given locality , there are BIOTIC ( Living things ) components . Like all the microorganisms , all the plants and all the animals including man.
They are all interdependent and form an harmonious relationship between the BIOTIC and ABIOTIC components .
This is called "ECOSYSTEM ' of that area .
Thank you !
