If when you went to vote, and there were no party markings on the ballot would this change the outcome of the?

It seems as though people vote only along party lines, with race and gender being a factor and not for the person. What if you had to pick the person according to his or her merit and and all other information was omitted. Would we still have Obama as our president? I really tend to wonder what the outcome might have been.

I think perhaps your theory would explain why our country is grid-locked on many issues in US Congress,

Less people would vote because they wouldn't know who to vote for.

At my school, on election day 08 we printed a ballot that just listed the candidates (Obama, McCain, Nader, McKinney) as Candidate A, B, C, etc... and then just listed their major policy stances under each candidate letter. I would say that 90% of my school would've voted for Obama if he was named but McKinney won with around 95% of all the votes...Obama came in third I think.

No, I look at the person, I know that's a radical concept for most people (especially liberals).
