I couldn't vouch for the place having what you're after, but we have a Scottish butcher shop and bakery near me in Scarborough. It's in a plaza on the south side of Ellesmere Rd near McCowan. It's called Butt 'n' Ben. I don't eat black pudding etc., but I can certainly vouch for the baked goods. Mmmmmm. If they don't have what your looking for they should be able to send you in the right direction.

In the same plaza is another Scarborough Scottish foodie landmark, St Andrew's Fish and Chips. They serve some of the best fish and chips in Toronto. Deep fried mars bars are on their menu. I've never had the nerve to try one.

To get there by public transit you can take the subway then LRT to McCowan station, then walk south on McCowan to Ellesmere. The plaza is just east of McCowan, on the other side of the Esso station. If you're driving you can get off the 401 at McCowan, south to Ellesmere, turn right onto Ellesmere, then a quick left into the plaza. Or, DVP to York Mills, east on York Mills, which morphs into Ellesmere after Victoria Park.

    The first answer is good.

I could add to that, "Nortown" on the south-west corner of

Bayview & York Mills (York Mills =Ellesmere)

If black-pudding is blood pudding, you can also buy it at grocery stores like Loblaws near the sausage meats section. Also, I've seen some real corned beef Montreal style at Loblaw's made by Ziggy's (if I remember the brand right).

  • no I don't think so
