What do you call to the moon when...?

I was looking to the east part of the sky and the moon was very freaky looking, large and reddish-yellow colored. What do you call to this phenomenon or whatsoever? and why does it happen?

First the moon is called FULL when it is a round disc and not a crescent

Second the colour is due to dust in the Earth's atmosphere ( lots of red skies and sunsets in the UK since that volcano in Iceland went pop)

Third the large size of the moon is due to common optical illusion called THE MOON ILLUSION qv

The moon Illusion is probably caused because the moon, when it is high in the sky looks small compared to the sky, but looks big when near the horizon because it looks big compared to a tree.

The official explanation goes thus, the human brain assumes the sky is flat like a ceiling, ie clouds overhead are closer than clouds near the horizon. The brain expects the moon to behave like a cloud and get smaller near the horizon, it doesn't, it is always the same size (give or take) about half a degree

I call it "normal." The Moon looks like this every month around Full Moon when we see it rising in the east as the Sun is setting in the west. If you looked at the sky more often, you'd have a better idea of what the sky looks like normally. There's nothing freaky, let alone unusual, about the appearance of the Full Moon rising in the east. Chill out!

I saw that several times in Oman, it is really amazing.

I think it is because of the dust in the air for the yellow color and the position of earth and moon determine the size

i guess its the new moon phase you saw and the red colour is dew to sun's illumination..
