what happened to paddy mcguire in shameless?

i must have nodded off and missed that bit - did he go to ireland or was he murdered by joe?

    He went to Ireland but in the last episode Joe said that Paddy was gone and that the McGuire's were not the only ones with family in Ireland so you got the impression Joe had got Paddy killed

    he left for Ireland about 2 episodes ago. Sean Gilder who plays him has left the series.
