Extremely Afraid Of The Dentist Tomorrow? (Easy 10 Points)?

So tomorrow my dad insists that I AM going to the dentist to get my first cavity fixed.

Im 15 and i have NEVER had a cavity and i am EXTREMELY afraid of the dentsists and needles...and not to mention drills. Im afraid that im going to have a panic attack tomorrow if I go, and if i dont go, i cant go to new york next week. So im at a stand still. I'll take whatever advice you have to offer on this matter. Im a huge cry baby and I want to know if there is any way i can get out of this or if there is alternative way to get this done.

Easy Ten Points, Thanks in Advance!

Update:

Grow some balls? Last i checked, Im a girl. -_____-

Bring some sort of Mp3 player and play your favorite music! =]

Most importantly, you should be friendly with your dentist and tell him/her that you're nervous. It sounds stupid, but really...it calms you a whole lot when you tell them. Everything they do, they'll explain it with you in a calm way so you know EXACTLY what's going on. The procedure feels a lot better when you have a friendly relationship with your dentist.

TRUST ME, it's a LOT better that you have your cavity fixed now, or later down the line... you'll have further decay in your teeth and mouth problems. I'm not trying to scare you, jsut giving yah a heads up. Prevention is the best cure. =]

Secondly, if it's really bad, doctors have a sort of gas that will make you a lot calmer when you do your procedure if you request for it. Most people don't need it, but it's there just in case you get too ecstatic over the procedure and need to calm down. It's harmless though..and kinda funny when you're on it LOL.

Needles will only be used when your gums need to be numbed, and I'm pretty sure that's not used for cavities. But just in case, and this goes for the drills too, you can have someone beside you (a parent/friend is the best choice) and when you feel like something is about to hurt. SQUEEZER their hand really tightly... just make sure they let you. LOL, but seriously, the advice sounds babyish, but it really works. =]

My last resort when I have nothing left is to close my eyes and makeup a funny story in my head about a girl who rides in a rocket ship made out of pineapples. ROFL. It helps take my mind away from the situation, but make sure to listen to the dentist's directions while you think of the story. ;D

    That's just my advice.

you could bring a ipod if the sound of the drills scare you but ask the dentist first though .. also ask for laughing gas and for them to put numbing cream on you before they put the needle in also close you eyes and think of the music. tell them how scared you are and they will help you good luck :)

Ask the Dentist if they can put you under laughing gas. Tell them your problem. They have safe ways of removing a cavity.

I think you need to grow up and grow some balls. just do it. if you are scared though, take a small capsule of cyanide in case it gets too much for you. hope this helped :)
