Wordpress migration any help please?

Hello I'm having some problems for the last few days. I used to have a wordpress core files on a directory called "Blog" and was there for over 3 years, now i moved the core files to the main root folder and activated the Multi site feature from wp3+ so i can re-do my site based on wordpress core and use one install only. Now i will be using the main "blog" directory for a few pages but the old post will be located at blog-en as there will be more languages on the page but the problem is from all the old links coming from other sites. How can i redirect for example "example.com/blog/post"

To something like "example.com/blog-en/post" I know about a few redirect plugins but i have over 3,000 posts that needs to be redirected. And it will not be easy to do them all on time.

    Hey,

Not that hard. You have a choice:

    1. You can have the actual files at mysite.com but be redirected to /blog/ so you don't have to worry about the URL problem.

    2. you can use .htaccess file and redirect old urls to new urls.

    to do that:

Export your old blog urls via mysql or wordpress admin or using a plugin. Once you have those urls in an Excel file, open in excel, then using excel you can create 2 columns, 1 old urls, and second column with new urls. You run a search and replace on the second column, search for mysite.com/blog and replace it with mysite.com

once you have 2 columns you need to prefix it with a column, the final result should be something like this:

    RewriteRule ^free-themes/newoosformat-wordpress-theme/$ http://www.alivethemes.com/deepblue/ [R=301,L]

and you need to enter it into your .htaccess file.

Source(s): We use it on our site http://www.alivethemes.com/themes/

Instead of redirecting the blog posts, why not export them to the new location. I believe there is an Import/Export function in the Dashboard.
