I have to agree with the "Doc" here... the PROS for CATS far outweigh the pros for dogs. Even any CONS for cats are far BETTER than the cons for dogs!

Cleanliness is a huge factor. Smell is another. While many people comment on the smell of the litter box, it can be controlled without too much difficulty. Dogs, however, well... just STINK! Their coats stink, their breaths stink... BLECH!

On a similar note, studies have shown that the average number of "disease" germs in a cat's mouth is seven, while a dog's mouth AVERAGES 55 !!!! So when a DOG licks you, it is transferring 55 different types of germs!! YUCHIE POO!!!

Sadly, this forum is better suited to brief responses, so, while there are more things I can add to these, I will leave it at this and let others speak to other points.

Realistically, Cats have tons of pros over dogs when it comes to cleanliness, its basic fact. Cats..

    -Clean themselves constantly, EVERYWHERE.

-Use the litter box with no need of taking them outside and they usually cover thier mess.

-Cats usually have no odor and do not need bathing. Dogs have a certain vinegar smell after days of not washing them.

    Dogs,well....

I think Cats win big when it comes to cleanliness compared to dogs. Stuff like shedding depends on how frequent you brush your dog or cat, and salmon oil with frequent daily brushing takes care of that with both animals.

Cats are much better when it comes to cleanliness... They never smell bad and are constantly licking themselves clean, they can easily be litter trained and don't need to be let outside when they need to do their business, and they cover up their droppings. They also shed much less and dogs also get fleas and ticks more often.
