Laker Fans: Has the way the Finals have played out made you feel better about your new head coach?

I heard a lot of Lakers fans calling the hiring of Mike Brown a huge mistake. One of their reasons for that opinion was the lack of success that Brown had in Cleveland, despite having arguably the MVP on his roster.

Now LeBron is in Miami, and with the bright lights and the pressure on him, he's playing even worse then he did with the Cavs. Is it possible that the problems in Cleveland were the fault of a flawed superstar, and not bad coaching? Or do you still think Brown in LA will be a disaster?

While it's true that Mike Brown underachieved with his team, that's not the reason why I'm not thrilled with the hiring. Brown, like Spoelstra, is known as being a pushover. As such, I don't see him being able to earn the respect of Kobe, Paul, Lamar, and other veterans. In theory, the Mike Brown hiring made sense, as the Lakers are a horrible defensive team, and Brown is known for being a defensive specialist. I don't, however, seeing it playing out well.

Brian Shaw, on the other hand, has already earned the respect of everyone on the team, but Jim Buss apparently was blown away with Brown's interview performance.

I don't hate the Mike Brown hiring, but I don't love it, either. What Lebron does or doesn't do in this playoffs has no effect on my opinion of Brown.

edit: Lil Tsunami, Jerry Buss didn't make the hiring. Rather, it was Jim Buss, Jerry's son, who did.

I'm on the fence about Brown. The Lakers definitely need to improve on defense, and Brown is a terrific defensive coach. I also think that the Triangle was getting a little played out, because Kobe can't bail out the offense as much as he used to. The Triangle worked 3 years ago because you could give Kobe the ball and play isolation, and he would be unstoppable. I think the Lakers will be a better regular season team next year with Brown.

However, this Lakers team still has a championship window, and the last 2 postseasons in Cleveland, Mike Brown looked almost clueless. I don't think Brown is the best coach at making adjustments in a playoff series. We will just have to wait and see.

Not a Laker fan, but I don't think Brown will be a disaster. LeBron is definitely showing that he is immensely talented, yet not capable of focusing enough to make full use of that talent. That's not Mike Brown's fault, it's LeBron's fault.

Brown is a Popovich disciple, and he should be a solid coach for the Lakers. He's defensive-minded and knows how to get the most production out of the bigs, from the Robinson/Duncan era with the Spurs.
