Who is better with Internet Security - Ad-Aware or Norton?

Have you tried the Ad-Aware internet security? Which is better - Ad-Aware or Norton? because I ran a full system scan using Norton on my PC it said no threats found but when I ran Ad-Aware full system scan it found 5 threats W32 xxx so it made my doubt Norton whether it is really a good internet security and am thinking of switching to Ad-Aware ... any suggestions/comments?

After spending 20+ years in IT/PC repair, I have found that no one software package can catch every type of malware. I can't even count the number of people that have come into the shop and said "I ran Norton on it and it's clean". Then I run ad-aware on it and find dozens of infections.

It's hard to explain why this is, because the line between a virus and a keylogger for example, have become blurred.

I never recommend Norton if the user wants to install the suite, for performance reasons, as well as a relatively poor track record of catching viruses. One of the things that Norton has going for it is an exceptional intrusion detection/prevention feature.

I sometimes run multiple virus packages on the same drive just to see what each one misses, which helps me to find the more accurate. This isn't a full study, but gives me an idea which does a better job.

When a customer comes in to my shop with virus problems, I run the following, in this order(all of these are completely free):

    1) AVG-free

    2) Lavasoft Ad-Aware

    3) Spybot search and destroy

I recommend that you download, install, and run all three. Each has a resident scanner that will catch malware on the fly, and take a miniscule amount of system resources.

Yes change to Ad-ware as norton is not up to the task, you proved it to your self norton=0 ad-ware=5 so going on the facts change I too have found norton is lacking and you dont get any back up from norton

Just between the two, I trust more on Norton, but hold your horses! Before you make a judgement, there can always be false-positives. If you can find the location of the suspected files, upload each one of them to http://www.virustotal.com./

See what antivirus programs would say.

I use AVG free and it works great and it doesn't slow down the computer or run when you don't want it too. Personally i hate norton and ive never heard of Ad-Aware.

Neither! I'm not a fan of both.

In my opinion the best internet security is Nod32. Its lightweight, fast scans, great detection rates and beats the other competition!

Norton is better, but it's always best to have maleware bytes also to pick up anything your antiviruses dont pick up.
