Mitsubishi Evo 8 alternator overcharging?
Ok so my alternator is putting out about 13.5-14 volts on idle, and 15.6 (max ive seen) when reving it up.
When it overcharges, my break and battery lights flicker.
Any reason other then bad alternator/voltage regulator?
manual for my car says max output should not exceed 14.8 v

Your car is definitely overcharging.
The voltage should never exceed about 14.25 volts, certainly nowhere close to 15 volts.
Sounds like you may need a new alternator as most cars these days have the voltage regulator built in to their alternators.

Sounds like 13.5 is good. Check your ground wires. Flickering lights are often wires not grounded good. A battery has to have 12 to start so if the alt is doing it's job it needs to put out 13.5 to 14 .
I think your Ok.

Yep, its the alternator for sure. Just make sure you buy a good replacement, not a el-cheapo.
