I've tried just about any serious commercial desktop SEO tool out on the market. Still trying new tools to see if anything better shows up but thus far SEO PowerSuite toolkit is the best deal in terms of:

1. accuracy

2. speed

3. features

If you are looking to buy cheapish tools for a one-time license purchase and no monthly charges for search engine updates, I suggest that you test the tools for a couple of months to see how quickly and how frequently the provider updates the software.

You'd be surprised how many of them don't do it and you are left with completely wrong data. In that case it is better to not use any tools at all. Unfortunately many companies won't allow you to free trial tools for this long (for the above reason) - that's why I always write to tech support and ask for a special trial.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that no matter what SEO software you get, it does not replace You. Without proper understanding of SEO and a solid site promotion strategy, SEO tools are worthless, and a waste of money.
