How do I explain my being fired in an interview?

I'm having a food-based job interview tomorrow, and recently got fired from a food-based job. I told my old employer that I had blood sugar problems when I entered the job, but these worsened as I worked through meal times (something which I am now able to control), and I eventually passed out on the way to my shift. Because I had to go to hospital, I wasn't able to give them enough notice that I wasn't coming in, and was fired.

How do I explain this in my interview tomorrow? I don't want to make the employer sound bad but I want to give an honest answer.

Tell them exactly that. You were improperly fired from your previous position -- there's nothing you can do to sugar-coat that, and you shouldn't try to. Just be honest and forthcoming and let your interviewer draw his own conclusions. It's not like he can't check up on your story to see if you're lying.

    Good luck!!

Firstly you got fired from a food based job and now you are going to work for another similar company So they will be very curious as to the reasons for your getting fired and when you tell them the truth about your blood sugar levels and your passing out - they will simply not hire you because they will be scared that you might pass out in their premises, in front of their customers, if your blood sugar levels go out of control again.

I am surprised that your last employer fired you for that reason especially as you ended up in hospital - one would have thought that out of a sense of decency they would have given you another chance? Were you absent from work a few times prior to that as well?

If you don't get hired by this company as a result of your honesty, you only option will be to drop your last company from your C.V. and pretend you were on sabatical leave. Sorry but employers are totally ruthless nowadays because they have so much choice when it comes to employees.

tell them frankly about your situation but do not blame your ex-employer for this as the interviewer hates to hear this good luck

If it was me i'd just tell them what you've written there. Can't get much more honest than the truth.
