10 k gold high school ring from 1820?
I live in the mountains of western Pennsylvania. My dog was digging and uncovered a 10k gold high school ring. On the face it says EBHS and 1820 in large letters.
How would I find out if its worth more for its intrinsic value or gold weight?

Maybe that was when the school was founded? just a thought, also it could mean something completely different than a date.. I would clean it good and bring it to a local jeweler, he could probably determine the date rather easy.. i would look for a makers mark.. it could lead you to information about the company that made.. and dates as well

depending on were you live it could be east butler high school in pa? or east brunswick hs from new jersey. you guys get lots of hikers up there and kids right out of high school wandering the woods during summer breaks on hikes etc...
I would check the reference of eb high schools with local surrounding ares as well, is there anything else on the ring that could be a determining factor? you need to look at symbols mascots etc.. to make the most accurate decision.. if it is truly a ring from 1820 you would make a big impact on the antique jewelry market... pre dating the high school formed in mass in 1821..
