...to try to qualify to go to the Super Bowl next?

(In other words, not in the top 4)

Actually, the Houston Texans are the only team to never have made it to the Conference Championship Game. The furthest the Texans made it was to the Divisional round this season. In fact, prior to the 2011 NFL season, the Texans had previously never made it to the postseason.

The Detroit Lions made it to the NFC Championship Game during the 1991 NFL season. The Jacksonville Jaguars made it to the AFC Championship Game twice, during the 1996 and 1999 NFL seasons.

The only two I can think of is Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars, two expansion teams. Some one said Detroit but Detroit won championships in the 50s and I remember in the 1991 season lost to the Redskins in the NFC championship when the Redskins beat the Bills in the Superbowl. The Chicago Cardinals won a champion ship way back in the 20's or 30's I believe but while they were in St. Louis I don't believe they ever got there they did as the Arizona Cardinals though, I could be wrong on that but if memory serves correct I think I am right.

Houston, Detroit and Jacksonville. I know the Browns got that far once because of "the fumble" controversy. Every other current team I could think of has gotten at least as far as the conference title game once.
