Doesn't NASCAR have access to the Weather Channel?
Hard rain is coming in less than an hour. Why are they wasting time and money drying the track?
I'm no meteorologist but I could look at the radar and tell that there was no chance of racing. I suppose a few thousand dollars for jet drier fuel is a small price to pay to make it look good. That's all they were doing is making it look good as there was zero chance of starting the race today.

Well, they have to at least attempt getting the track dry, especially for the biggest race of the season. Florida precipitation is very unpredictable; a lot of times, rain will break up after it gets over land. I don't see that happening today, but you never know. At the very earliest, the track will be dry by 6:30 or so, but that is if no more rain hits, which in all likelihood won't happen.
It will probably be a Monday race.

So, meteorologists and weather radar have always been right hours in advance, 100% of the time in the history of forever?

They have to make every attempt to get the show rolling -- and since the race has not started, the hope is that front may make a turn and miss the area. At this level, no expense is too great to get a race completed on its scheduled day.

I think they just want to run the event so bad that they are willing to take their chances and see if the weather will clear without having to postpone it ...
